Cass Regional Medical Center is set to host QuitSmart, a complimentary smoking cessation program, beginning April 7. The program aims to assist individuals in quitting tobacco through a series of four sessions scheduled for April 7, 21, 23, and 28. These sessions will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1 at the medical center located on East Rock Haven Road in Harrisonville.
QuitSmart was developed by Dr. Robert Shipley, director of the Duke University Quit Smoking Clinic. It is led by a certified QuitSmart leader. A study conducted across five U.S. Air Force bases found that 66% of participants remained smoke-free six months after quitting with QuitSmart, compared to just 16-30% in other programs.
The program includes a kit containing a guidebook, a hypnosis CD, and a patented cigarette substitute to aid participants in their journey to quit smoking.
Participation in the QuitSmart program is free; however, registration is necessary. Attendees must be present at the first session to complete the program successfully. For registration or further information, contact Jackie Jones at extension 3200 or email jjones@cassregional.org before noon on Tuesday, April 1.
