In a tweet on April 11, 2025, Alford raised concerns about the Name Image and Likeness (NIL). He highlighted problems stemming from NIL, such as "fake agents and predatory practices" that could harm student athletes. Alford called for a framework that both "protects athletes" and considers their best interests.

Furthermore, on the same day, Alford emphasized the obligation to provide a suitable quality of life for military personnel. Alford, a native of Baytown, Texas, born in 1963, has been a resident of Lake Winnebago. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988. In 2023, he succeeded Vicky Hartzler, enhancing his contributions to national and local discourse.
