On January 30, 2025, Rep. Alford expressed his condolences regarding a tragic incident involving an American Airlines flight from Wichita and an Army Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac River in Washington D.C. "Leslie and I are heartbroken for the families affected by the incident involving the American Airlines flight from Wichita and the Army Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac River in DC." He added that they were praying for comfort and swift answers.
