Rep. Mark Alford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 4th District since 2023, has recently expressed his views on various national security and military issues through social media. Alford, who succeeded Vicky Hartzler, was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 1988. He currently resides in Lake Winnebago.
On December 11, 2024, Rep. Mark Alford posted a tweet stating that “Divisive concepts have plagued our military for too long. We will not allow our elite cohesions and combat effectiveness to be undermined.” He highlighted the #NDAA's efforts to end what he describes as "woke" influences within the military.
Later that day, on December 11, 2024, he further emphasized this point by tweeting that “To truly restore our military’s lethal edge—we have to purge the radical, woke ideologies that are infiltrating our ranks.” According to him, the #FY25 NDAA addresses these concerns.
In another tweet on December 11, 2024, Rep. Alford supported former President Donald Trump's stance on foreign policy by stating “President @realDonaldTrump is right—we must stay out of Syria.” He suggested that Israel should manage its defense independently against threats such as Hamas and Hezbollah and warned against engaging in another prolonged conflict.
