Cass Regional Medical Center’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program has received national certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) for the first time in its history. The recognition affirms that patients at Cass Regional receive specialized, evidence-based care aimed at improving quality of life, reducing symptoms, preventing hospitalizations, and helping patients manage chronic lung conditions.
“Achieving AACVPR certification reflects our team’s commitment to the highest standards of excellence in Pulmonary Rehabilitation,” said Tonya Lichte, Director, Respiratory Therapy. “Our priority is to provide the best possible outcomes for the patients and community we serve.”
The program is led by respiratory therapists who offer individualized care and education for those managing chronic lung disorders. It works in collaboration with the Cardiac Rehabilitation team and focuses on building endurance, improving breathing techniques, and teaching coping skills through exercise, education, breathing retraining, and support.
The aim of the program is to reduce symptoms and complications related to pulmonary disease while decreasing hospitalizations and healthcare costs. It also seeks to help patients regain independence, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve self-confidence.
Participation in the program requires a prescription from a primary care provider.
