Golden Years Center for Rehab and Healthcare was recognized as the second largest nursing home in Cass County during the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.
The facility reported a total of 128 available beds, which was 13 above the Cass County average in the first quarter of 2026. During that time frame, an average of 77 residents were served by the facility.
The CMS rated Golden Years Center for Rehab and Healthcare at 1 out of 5, while Missouri’s nursing homes held an average rating of 2.5.
In the same quarter, Sunrise Nursing & Rehabilitation led Cass County with 152 available beds, and Beautiful Savior Home was third with 126.
As of the first quarter of 2026, Golden Years Center for Rehab and Healthcare had incurred $254,665 in fines and received two penalties in total.
Eight for-profit nursing homes operated within Cass County, Missouri at the time.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the nation’s older adult population continues to grow as the number of youth declines. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while those younger than 18 dropped by 1.7%. The country’s older adult population rose sharply in the past 100 years, going from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.
A 2021 report indicates that nearly half of this demographic, or about 28 million people, could require long-term services and supports. The analysis also predicted over one-third may eventually need nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
