Cass Regional Medical Center announced on March 31 that it will install the Evolv security screening system at several key entrances throughout its facility.
The move aims to enhance safety for patients, visitors, and staff while maintaining a welcoming and efficient entry process. The hospital is introducing this technology in response to growing concerns about workplace and facility security in healthcare settings.
Evolv will be installed at the Main Entrance, Emergency Department Entrance, and the hallway connecting the hospital to the Medical Office Building. The system allows individuals to walk through without stopping or removing personal items. If a potential concern is detected, a silent notification is sent to the Security Team for a brief secondary screening. Unlike traditional metal detectors, Evolv does not use audible alarms.
“Creating a safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff is always a top priority,” said Chris Lang, CEO. “This is one more way we are proactively supporting safety while continuing to provide a positive and welcoming experience for our community.”
Rusty Randall, Director of Plant Operations, said that most people will be able to enter as usual with minimal disruption: “We understand that any change to the entry process may take some adjustment. Our goal is to make this as seamless as possible. Most individuals will simply walk through as they normally would, and our team will be available to assist and answer questions along the way.”
Patients and visitors are encouraged by Cass Regional Medical Center to follow posted signage and staff guidance during this initial rollout period.
